NineT is an educational project provided completely free of charge.
This application ("App") is developed as a learning project to demonstrate mobile app development, AI integration, and software engineering practices. The App is provided at no cost to users and is non-commercial in nature. While we implement production-grade security measures, users acknowledge the educational nature of this project. Features may be experimental and support is provided on a best-effort basis.
1.1 Ninet.io ("NineT", "We", "Our", "Us") is committed to the protection of user ("You", "Your", "User") provided information which personally identifies You ("Personal Information") to NineT. You agree that Your use of NineT's mobile application ("App") implies Your consent to collecting, receiving, possessing, storing, dealing or handling of Your Personal Information in accordance with the terms of this Privacy Policy ("Privacy Policy").
1.2 This Privacy Policy applies to all Users who access the App and are therefore required to read and understand the Privacy Policy before submitting any Personal Information.
1.3 We take the privacy of our Users seriously. We are committed to safeguarding the privacy of Our Users while providing a personalized and valuable service.
1.4 Access to the contents available through the App is conditional upon Your approval of this Privacy Policy which is in addition to the terms and conditions of use ("Terms"). Any term used but not defined in this Privacy Policy will have the same meaning as provided in the Terms. You acknowledge that this Privacy Policy, together with our Terms, forms Our agreement with You in relation to Your use of the App.
In order to provide the App, We automatically track and collect the following categories of information when You use the App:
(i) IP addresses;
(ii) Domain servers;
(iii) Device information (device model, operating system, app version);
(iv) Network information (WiFi/cellular status); and
(v) Other information with respect to Your device, interaction of Your device with the App and applications (collectively "Traffic Data").
In order to provide the App, We may require You to provide Us with Personal Information. Personal Information includes the following categories of information:
(i) Contact data (such as Your email address and display name);
(ii) Device data (device identifiers for authentication);
(iii) Usage data (articles read, reading time, bookmarks, search queries, reading streaks); and
(iv) Preference data (such as Your article preferences, notification settings, and display preferences).
If You communicate with Us by, for example, email or in-app feedback, any information provided in such communication may be collected and stored by NineT.
Our App may transmit Your Personal Information to our internal servers. This Personal Information is deleted from our servers 30 days after You delete the App or cancel/terminate your user account on the App, except to the extent storage of such data, including Your Personal Information, is necessary for Our purposes and/or required under applicable laws. Backup copies are retained for 90 days for disaster recovery purposes.

Our App may contain links to third party websites or applications. The inclusion or exclusion of the link does not imply any endorsement by NineT of the website, the website's provider, or the information on the website. You agree and understand that privacy policies of these websites are not under Our control. NineT does not make any representations concerning the privacy practices or policies of such third parties or terms of use of such websites, nor does NineT guarantee the accuracy, integrity, or quality of the information, data, text, software, sound, photographs, graphics, videos, messages or other materials available on such websites. You understand that once You leave Our servers, use of any information You provide shall be governed by the privacy policy of the operator of the site used by you. Hence, NineT encourages the User to read the privacy policies of each such website and the User understands that it is solely such third party who is responsible to the User in this regard.
The App uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology to enhance Your experience:
(i) Content curation and personalization based on Your reading patterns;
(ii) Article categorization and topic matching
(iii) Smart content filtering.
The AI systems process Your usage data (articles read, time spent, categories engaged with, search queries) to provide personalized recommendations. This processing is automated and helps deliver content matched to Your interests.
AI recommendations are automated and may not always be accurate. We actively work to minimize bias in content curation. You should verify important information from original sources.
The information collected from You is used to ensure services with respect to the App are presented to You in the most effective manner, to carry out Our obligations to You, and to communicate with You. The said communication can either be by push notifications, emails and for purposes which include transactional, service, or informational messages.
In general, We use Our best efforts to use information in aggregate form (so that no individual user is identified). However, We may use Your Personal Information for the following purposes:
(i) To provide personalized article recommendations;
(ii) To enable core app functionality (authentication, bookmarks, reading progress);
(iii) To aid strategic development, data collection and business analytics;
(iv) To enable us to provide the App through the use of appropriate technological services;
(v) To audit usage of the App and identify technical issues;
(vi) To enhance user experience in relation to the App; and
(vii) For educational research purposes using only anonymized, aggregated data (collectively, "Permitted Use").
As this is an educational project, anonymized and aggregated data (e.g., "Users read an average of X articles per day") may be used in portfolio presentations, case studies, or technical documentation. Personal identifiable information is NEVER used in educational contexts.
We do not disclose Your Personal Information to any third parties other than to NineT's service providers or other trusted business partners pursuant to a lawful contract and in compliance with our Privacy Policy and any other appropriate confidentiality and security measures.
Our service providers include: (i) Supabase - Database and authentication services
(ii) Cloudflare - API hosting and security
(iii) Expo/EAS - App distribution and updates
(iv) Apple/Google - Push notification services
These providers are contractually obligated to protect Your data and use it only for providing services to NineT.
No User information is rented or sold to any third party. We do not sell, rent, or trade Your Personal Information for commercial purposes.
We may disclose Your Personal Information if required by law, court order, or government regulation, or to protect Our rights, safety, and property.
In the event of a merger, reorganization, acquisition, joint venture, assignment, spin-off, transfer, or sale of all or any portion of Our educational project, You will be notified 30 days in advance via email and will have the option to:
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect Your Personal Information:
(i) Encryption of data in transit (HTTPS/TLS 1.3);
(ii) Encryption of data at rest (AES-256);
(iii) Password hashing (bcrypt with salt);
(iv) Secure authentication (JWT tokens);
(v) Regular security monitoring and updates; and
(vi) Access controls and logging.
In the event of a data breach affecting Your Personal Information, We will notify You within 72 hours via email and provide information about the breach, affected data, and steps We are taking to address it.
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of Your account credentials and for all activities under Your account.

(v) Opt-Out - Disable AI recommendations, notifications, or analytics;
(vi) Withdraw Consent - Revoke permissions at any time.

We may verify Your identity before processing requests to protect Your Personal Information.
The mobile App does NOT use traditional web cookies. We use:
(i) Local Storage - To save preferences and offline articles (essential);
(ii) Session Tokens - To keep You logged in securely (essential);
(iii) Device Identifiers - For authentication (essential); and
(iv) Analytics IDs - To track app usage patterns (optional, can be disabled).
You can clear local storage through App Settings → Storage → Clear Cache.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be notified through:
(i) Email notification to Your registered email;
(ii) In-app notification banner;
(iii) Updated "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy.
Significant changes: 30 days advance notice
Minor updates: Immediate, with notification
If this educational project transitions to commercial status, changes ownership, or is discontinued, You will receive 60 days advance notice with the option to export or delete Your data.
Continuing to use the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy. If You disagree with changes, You may stop using the App and delete Your account.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, this App is provided "AS-IS" and "AS-AVAILABLE" for educational purposes. While We implement production-grade security measures, this is an educational project without enterprise-level service guarantees. We are not liable for data loss, service interruptions, inaccurate AI recommendations, or other issues arising from the use of this App.
Recommendation: Do not use this App as Your sole source for critical or time-sensitive information.
